Voices for Impact - Youth Advisory Hubs
The Voices for Impact Youth Advisory Hubs are groups of young people who play a central role in shaping and guiding the Voices for Impact platform. They ensure that the views, experiences, and priorities of children and young people are not only heard but acted upon. There are hubs in each of the four jurisdictions involved with Voices for Impact – Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
What are Youth Advisory Hubs?
Youth Advisory Hubs are local groups of young people who work alongside project partners to guide the development and impact of Voices for Impact. They meet regularly in a supportive, youth-led environment and take part in interactive sessions to share ideas, give feedback, and co-create outputs.
These hubs exist to:
- Ensure the platform reflects what matters most to young people
- Involve young people directly in decision-making processes
- Strengthen how young people’s voices influence real-world change
What do members do?
Members of the Youth Advisory Hubs are actively involved in a range of important activities, including:
1. Shaping the questions
Young people review and improve the questionnaires used on the platform, making sure they are clear, relevant, and meaningful.
2. Analysing and sharing young people’s views
They help interpret key messages from the data collected and decide how to share these insights creatively, through articles, videos, social media, or campaigns.
3. Influencing decision-makers
Members may take part in meetings with policymakers and stakeholders, helping present the views of young people and contributing to decisions that affect their lives.
4. Co-designing the platform
They give feedback on the look, feel, and usability of the website to ensure it is engaging and accessible for young people.
5. Promoting the platform
Young people help identify the best ways to reach others, encouraging both their peers and professionals working with young people to get involved.
6. Supporting youth work and learning
They review and shape resources and session plans designed for youth workers and educators, ensuring they are engaging, practical, and relevant.
Why it matters
Youth Advisory Hubs are a vital part of ensuring that Voices for Impact is truly youth-led. By bringing together diverse perspectives, they help create a more accurate picture of young people’s lives and strengthen the impact of the platform.
Through their involvement, young people gain opportunities to:
- Develop skills and confidence
- Influence decisions that affect them
- Work collaboratively with peers and professionals
- Create meaningful change in their communities
